OXFORD — For the second day in a row, the Ole Miss Rebels went for a white-knuckle ride in the later innings against Arkansas and lived to tell the tale.

Arkansas scored four runs in the seventh inning and four more in the eighth to wipe out most of a six-run deficit, but couldn’t come all the way back as Ole Miss hung on for an 11-10 victory in the series finale at Swayze Field.

Cole Zabowski and Tyler Keenan homered for Ole Miss (25-4, 6-3 Southeastern Conference), which took two out of three in the weekend series and held onto its spot atop the SEC Western Division standings.

Keenan was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. He hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning that was part of a big surge by the Rebels.

They plated four runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth to take an 8-2 lead. After Arkansas scored four times in the top of the seventh, Ole Miss answered with four of its own in the bottom half to go up 11-6.

Arkansas rallied again in the eighth. Jax Biggers hit an RBI double and Eric Cole a three-run homer to cut it to 11-10.

Cole’s home run was Arkansas’ fourth of the game. Heston Kjerstad, Dominic Fletcher and Grant Koch also went deep.

Ole Miss closer Parker Caracci entered the game after Cole’s home run and retired the side, then dodged a leadoff double in the ninth to earn his sixth save.

“It was nerve-wracking,” Ole Miss outfielder Ryan Olenek told The Oxford Eagle in a postgame interview. Olenek capped a 7-for-12 weekend with two hits and two RBIs. “It was a nailbiter the whole time. It was just almost like when’s it going to stop?”

Ole Miss will play at Memphis on Tuesday, and then begin a three-game series at Mississippi State on Friday night.
