Missy Gators crush Ridgeland

Gracie Emerson and Chelsea Myers each drove in two runs, Jamie Ward scored three, and the Vicksburg Missy Gators picked up a key Division 4-5A victory Tuesday by crushing Ridgeland 17-2.

Vicksburg scored 10 runs in the top of the first inning and won it via the run rule after five innings. Emerson and Myers each had RBI singles during the big first inning, but the Missy Gators mostly took advantage of walks — nine of them — to do their damage.

Ridgeland’s pitchers issued 20 walks in the game. Every VHS starter walked at least once.
