Bond set at $25,000 for man accused in stabbing

A Vicksburg man charged with aggravated assault in the Tuesday night stabbing of another man was being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.

Bond was set for Charles Benard “Black Eye” Scott III, 39, 2532 Oak St., at an initial appearance Friday in Municipal Court. Scott turned himself in Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Vicksburg Police Department.

He is accused of stabbing Desmond Jermaine Taylor, 27, during a fight at the Speedmart convenience store, 2320 Washington St.

Taylor was stabbed twice, puncturing his lung. He was taken to Merit Health River Region Medical Center. Information on his condition was unavailable Friday.

Officers responding to a call about a stabbing at the convenience store about 9:47 p.m. Tuesday were told Taylor left on foot with another man. The officers walked in the area of Speed and Marshall streets where they found Taylor lying in the street.
