OXFORD — Thomas Dillard hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the seventh inning, and Ole Miss hung on to beat LSU 9-8 Saturday in a wild series finale at Swayze Field.
Dillard’s homer capped a five-run rally for the Rebels, as well as a comeback from a three-run deficit. LSU had scored six runs in the third inning to take a 7-4 lead, after Ole Miss plated four runs in the second inning to go up 4-1.
LSU threatened again in the ninth and scored a run on a bases-loaded walk to Hunter Feduccia to pull within 9-8. Ole Miss closer Parker Caracci then got the last two outs to secure the win and his eighth save of the season.
Chase Cockrell also homered for the Rebels, and Grae Kessinger went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Feduccia and Zach Watson had two RBIs apiece for LSU, while Antoine Duplantis was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
Ole Miss (34-11, 12-9 Southeastern Conference) took two of three games in the series, and scored 23 runs in its victories. The Rebels remained in first place in the SEC Western Division.
LSU (26-19, 10-11) still has not won an SEC road series this season.
