Owners report cars missing after break downs

Two cars that had been left on the side of the road after breaking down were reported missing Thursday by their owners, who later returned to get the vehicles and found them missing.
The first theft was reported about 4:51 p.m. Thursday when the victim told police someone had taken his 2006 Chevrolet Trialblazer he left earlier at the Interstate 20/U.S. 61 North exit after breaking down. About four hours later, a man said his 1996 sky blue Chevrolet Caprice was taken from where he left it on the shoulder of I-20 westbound by McDonald’s on North Frontage Road.
In other cases:
• Shots were reported fired about 2:26 a.m. in the 600 block of Security Street.
• Shots were reported fired about 2:33 p.m. in the area of National Street and Third Street.
Police made the following arrests Thursday:
• Nicholas Durrell, 21, no address given, was arrested about 12:43 a.m. in the 1300 block of Washington Street on a charge of public drunkenness.
• Warrants were served on Salento Tremayne Weathersby, 1017 Demtra Drive, Port Gibson.
• Anita M. Thompson, 31, 25 Myrtle Place, was arrested about 11:23 a.m. at U.S. 61 South and Cedar Drive on a charge of contempt of court.
• A warrant was served on Johnny Earl Sanders, 28, 1203 Second North St.
• Jessica Lynn Howell, 34, 3365 U.S. 61, was arrested about 12:02 p.m. at Warrenton Road and Wigwam Road on three counts of contempt of court.
• Marion Thomas Palmer, 47, 7470 Warriors Trail, was arrested about 9:19 p.m. in the 100 block of Cypress Center Drive on a charge of having an open container of alcohol.
• Bradford Leon Smith Jr., 25, 305 Fred Drive, was arrested about 11:56 p.m. in the 400 block of Lake Hill Drive on a charge of disorderly conduct.
Police responded to the following calls Thursday:
• 1:27 p.m., 1700 block of Court Street, property damage.
• 8:02 p.m., 400 block of Cairo Drive, petit larceny.
