The Mississippi Highway Patrol is currently investigating a two-vehicle collision that happened just before mid-day Monday on Highway 61 and Oak Ridge Road just north of Vicksburg.

According to the MHP, the crash involved a pedestrian that was attempting to push a disabled vehicle out of the roadway.

Preliminary reports indicate that the vehicle was in a lane of travel and was struck from behind by another vehicle as it was being pushed to the shoulder.  The person that was pushing the vehicle died as a result of their injuries.

Both vehicles were in the northbound lanes and the roadway is blocked at this time.
