With school out for summer, parents may be wondering what to do with their kids and kids may be wondering what there is to do.

“Southern Exposure” Camp

The “Southern Exposure” camp is an all-day summer camp at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center, 1302 Adams St. for ages six to 13 will be offered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 4 to July 27. The registration fee is $100 per child for each week and includes a $25 non-refundable fee, which is due two weeks prior to each week attending. The fee also includes all supplies and a daily snack. Educator, Karen Biedenharn, will oversee the camp and each week there will have a different theme. Space is limited and reservations are required two weeks prior to each week attending. Winshape Summer Camp

The Winshape Summer Camp is geared for first through ninth grades and will run from 7:45 a.m. to 4:55 p.m. June 4 through June 8 at Crossway Church, 1825 Highway 61 S. Warner Tully YMCA Camps

The Warner Tully YMCA Camps offer a week-long camping experience for boys and girls, ages 7-13. A three-night mini camp will also be offered for ages 6-10.

Campers will become part of a close-knit cabin group, with 8-10 campers and two well-trained counselors. The normal daily routine includes three meals in an air-conditioned dining hall, a morning and evening devotional, skill activities, which include canoeing, archery and free swims. Ranger-In-Training Camp

The free Ranger-In-Training Camp will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 4 through June 8 at the Vicksburg National Military Park, 3201 Clay St. Geared for ages 13-16, the camp introduces students to career possibilities in the National Park Service, the importance of volunteerism, and to encourage the next generation of park stewards. Rangers-in-Training become leaders for the Junior Ranger Camps, and are prepared to become part of the park’s living history program the following summer. Junior Ranger Summer Camps

The free Junior Ranger Summer Camps will run from 8 a.m. to noon at the Vicksburg National Military Park, 3201 Clay St. The camps are for ages 8-12 and will immerse campers in the historical and natural resources of the park during a week packed full of fun activities. Multicultural Arts Camp

The Multicultural Arts Camp will run from 8 a.m. until noon June 18 through June 22 at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center, 1302 Adams St. The camp will include creative art projects and music  for ages six through 12. The cost is $60 and includes all supplies, material and a daily snack. Space is limited to 60 students and reservations are required. Kids in Kitchen Cooking Camps

Camp Invention

Camp Invention, a nationally recognized nonprofit summer enrichment camp program for children in grades K-6 will be offered at Dana Road Elementary School, South Park Elementary School, Bowmar Magnet School, Beechwood Elementary School and Warren Central Intermediate School from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 4 –June 8. The cost is $225. Camp Invention promotes science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning and is geared towards building resourcefulness and problem-solving skills and encourages entrepreneurship — in a fun and engaging environment. Magnificent Mini-Camps

Crawford Street United Methodist Church has scheduled Magnificent Mini-Camps throughout the summer. Camps will include art, language, play and music. The cost is $65 and space is limited. Children must be potty trained. For more information, call 601-636-5612.
