Good music, check. Good food, check. Good people, check. The annual Lake Fest at Eagle Lake had everything you could want to start off your summer on the right foot.

The sun was shining Saturday morning, but the trees at the lake offered the perfect shade as attendees wandered through vendors selling clothes, paintings, jewelry and homemade goods like candles and rugs.

Some attendees preferred to sit back in lawn chairs and relax and listen to music by Guilt Ridden Troubadour or The Chill.

For refreshments, attendees had plenty of homemade southern food to tame their appetites, along with baked goods and even Bop’s frozen custard.

There was even a silent auction and games for the kids, including a 20-foot bouncy slide.

All proceeds from the festival went towards the efforts of the Save Historic Eagle Lake organization.

For Derek Grey, the fest has become synonymous with the start of the summer.

“It’s fun to watch the kids run around and play, and let them loose and enjoy the weather and the music and the food,” Grey said. “This is becoming a recurring theme for us. Every year we do this. We have a house up here. This is the kick-start to our summer. It’s fun, it’s a good time for us to come together, enjoy the day and start our summer.”

Alice Hebler said her favorite part of the festival was the music, and said she enjoyed Guilt Ridden Troubador and was especially excited to see The Chill.

“They play every year. They play all the oldies, and I’m an oldie. I love to get out there and dance,” Hebler said. “We all get out here and dance together.”

“It’s just fun,” Hebler continued. “The food is good, the vendors are good, and I love to just sit and listen to the music. The atmosphere is great, it’s just wonderful.”

For Gary Grey, the festival was a great way to relax.

“It’s just a good time with a lot of nice people,” Grey said.
