FRANKLIN, La. (AP) — Authorities say four inmates who escaped from a Louisiana jail have been captured, and three deputies have been fired.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum tells news outlets the inmates escaped Sunday and were found Monday.

Anslum says an internal investigation of the escapes determined the deputies “failed to follow proper security protocol,” and they are no longer employed by his office.

The sheriff says 24-year-old Elias Todd was the last of the inmates to be captured when deputies found him at a Berwick home in the evening.

Officers had found 40-year-old William Deans in Morgan City in the morning. Police in Picayune, Mississippi had located and arrested 28-year-old Jamie Scarbrough and 18-year-old Tanner Scarbrough.
Anslum says he will continue to meet with staff to ensure the security failures are corrected.
