Funeral services for Mary J. Thomas will be Sunday, June 17, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Ross officiating. Interment will follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 16, at the funeral home from 4 to 5 p.m.

Mary J. Thomas passed away Sunday, June 10, at her residence following a brief illness.  She was 63.

She had worked as a cook at Jeff’s Restaurant and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Henry Ross; and her mother, Katie Durr Thomas; her son, Tony Thomas; her brother, Darrell Thomas; and her sister, Gloria Bunch.

She is survived by her son, Willie Thomas of Prentiss; her brothers, Johnson Thomas and David Thomas, both of Vicksburg; her five sisters, Shirley Deonarain of Jersey City, N.J., Mary Ross of Maywood, Ill.; Eula Ayankoya of Vicksburg, Lavonnie Jordan of Prentiss; and Juanita Hawthorne of Atlanta, Ga.; and a number of grandchildren.
