Fannie R. Melton

Fannie R. Melton died Saturday, June 16, 2018, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 104.

Born and reared in Winn Parish, Louisiana, she had been a resident of Issaquena and Sharkey counties for the past 82 years. She was a member of the Cary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George W. and Emma Smith Riley; her husband, W.K. Melton; her daughter, Shirley McFate, her sisters, Ocie Smith and Queenie Holland and her brother, Clell M. Riley,

Survivors include her daughter, Diane Clements of Ridgeland; her son, W. Denom Melton of Rolling Fork; three grandchildren, Deborah Melton McGehee of Madison, Rena Hope Cruz Baldo of Ocala, Florida, and Lisa Ellen Barnette of Columbus, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren, Danielle Klaus of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and William Klaus of Hattiesburg.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at the Cary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Cary Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m.Tuesday until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Rufus Barnette, Chase McGarrah, Mike Lamensdorf, William Klaus, Jeffrey Mitchell and Robert Brown.

Honorary pallbearers will be William Moore, Bill Hayes, Ben Lamensdorf and Randy Darden. Memorials maybe made to St. Jude, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 39105-1942
