Star-Spangled Night Run
The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation will present the first Star Spangled Night Run on June 30 in downtown Vicksburg. The 5K run and walk will begin at 8 p.m., and the start-finish line will be at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center.
Registration is now open. The fee is $30 for adults or $15 for children 12 and under. Entry forms and information are available by visiting southernculture.org/events, or by calling 601-631-2997 or emailing info@southernculture.org.
Entry forms and fees can be dropped off at SCHF Business Office, 601 Sports or mailed to SCHF, 1302 Adams Street, Vicksburg, MS 39180. Online registration is available at RaceRoster.com.
Race packet pick-up will be June 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the SCHF Auditorium on the corner of Crawford and Cherry Streets, and also before the race at the race site starting at 6 p.m.
VSO soccer registration
Registration for the Vicksburg Soccer Organization’s fall season is now open and will continue until Aug. 19. The league is for children ages 4-16, and the season runs from early September through late October.
Registration fees are $60 per child in the U4 and U6 age divisions; $80 for the U8 division; $85 for U10; and $90 for U12 and above. There is also a $33 fee for uniforms. A $5 discount for early registration before July 27 is available, as well as a 20 percent discount if registering for both the fall and spring 2019 seasons.

Clear Creek Club Championship
Clear Creek Golf Course will host its annual Clear Creek Club Championship June 30 and July 1. Participants must have a membership at Clear Creek, or be a student 15 years of age or older. There will be separate divisions for men’s, women’s and senior men’s players, and the tournament will be flighted after the first round.
The entry fee is $40, and the tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. each day. To register or for more information, call Clear Creek pro Kent Smith at 601-638-9395 or visit the Clear Creek clubhouse.
Atlanta Braves tryout camp
The annual Atlanta Braves Tryout Camp is scheduled for June 27 at Trustmark Park in Pearl. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and tryouts at 10. The annual event is free of charge and under the direction of area scout supervisor Smoke Laval.
All players must be between the ages of 16 and 22 to participate and are expected to furnish their own cleats, gloves, and uniforms, with no exceptions. The Braves will provide any other necessary equipment. American Legion players must have written permission from their coach.

Blue Harbor golf tourney
The Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour will host the Blue Harbor Pointe Stroke Play Championship July 21-22 at Beau Chene Golf Club in Mandeville, La. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is for players ages 11-18. The registration fee is $195 and includes green fees, tee gifts and trophies in four age divisions.

Summer tennis program
The City of Vicksburg’s summer youth tennis program will continue through the end of July at Halls Ferry Park. The camp is free, and for players of all skill levels from ages 7-18. Sessions will run from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday, with a second junior team tennis session from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

MSU volleyball camp
Mississippi State’s women’s volleyball team will host several youth camps in July on the Starkville campus.
The High School Team Camp, set for July 13-15, is designed for only high school teams. Team strategies as opposed to individual skills will be emphasized and competition among other schools will take place during each session. Participating schools must have at least eight players, with a maximum of 12.
From July 16-17 the Lil’ Puppy Dog Volley School for players ages 6-12, and an All Skills Day Camp for ages 12 and over will be offered. The Lil’ Puppy Dog Volley School will teach beginners the basics of volleyball techniques and strategies.
The final camp is the Big Dawgs College Prep Camp from July 18-20. This camp is for ninth-graders and higher. The Big Dawgs College Prep Camp is designed to provide athletes an inside look into the practice setting of a collegiate program. The same drills and techniques used by the Mississippi State Bulldogs will be featured.
