Bonds totaling $750,000 were set Wednesday for a man and a woman accused of attacking and robbing an 85-year-old man.
Municipal Judge Penny Lawson set a $500,000 bond for Johnny Earl Thomas, 33, 2530 Oak St., and a $250,000 bond for Shonda Lachella Anderson-Ellis, 30, 2104 Baker St., who are accused of assaulting the man in the 2900 block of Valley Street about 7:16 p.m. Friday and taking an undisclosed amount of money. Both are charged with strong-arm robbery in the case.
Thomas was out on bond for a 2017 armed robbery charge at the time they attacked the man.
The bonds were set at an initial appearance for both. They are in the Warren County Jail.
According to police reports, the man said a woman approached him and asked him for a dollar. As he went in his wallet to get the dollar, he said, he was ambushed by a man who hit him and took his wallet.
In another case, Lawson set the bond for Venshada Neisha Clayton, 2501 Ken Karl Ave., at $100,000 on a charge of burglary.
Clayton was arrested Tuesday after the owner of a home in the 1500 block of Jackson Street came home from a trip to find her asleep in his bed and wearing items belonging to him.
The homeowner told police he had gone out of town for a few days and when he returned he found Clayton inside his home and she had apparently fallen asleep. He said Clayton gained entry to his home through a window in the rear of the house. It was unclear how long Clayton had been at the home.
