Culkin Water District has a boil water notice, impacting approximately 165 households.
CWD officials issued a boil water alert Monday for customers who get their drinking water from 710 Newit Vick Drive to the 1300 block of Newit Vick Drive, including River Bend Cove, River Bend Road, Nottingham Road, Clubhouse Circle, Windy Lake Drive, Windy Lake Circle, Windy Lake Cove, Choctaw Trail and Choctaw Drive.
Kadie Hearn, spokesperson for Culkin Water District, said this precautionary action was necessary because the water system lost pressure due to a break in the water line.
“When a water distribution system loses pressure, contaminants can siphon back into the system,” Hearn said. “Public health officials consider any system that has los pressure contaminated until tests of the water prove otherwise.”
Hearn said that as soon as pressure is restored to those customers affected, water system officials will begin collecting samples for testing and recommend that consumers vigorously boil their water for two minutes before it is consumed or use an alternate source for drinking and cooking.
