Sue Ahlvin

Sue Ahlvin passed into glory on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Merit Health-River Region Medical Center. She was 79. A native of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Ahlvin was the daughter of the late Edward Long Stapp and Roberta Shaw Stapp. She was a graduate of North Texas University and had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1972. Mrs. Ahlvin retired from Waterways Experiment Station, and after her retirement, she made many friends through her various positions with several restaurants, including The Sprague, Tuminello’s, and Jacque’s. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church for many years where she served as church secretary and on the church’s greeting card ministry. She loved her family and her Lord above everything else.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ahlvin was preceded in death by two brothers: Edward Robert Whittlesey-Stapp and William Stephen Stapp.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Richard B. Ahlvin; a sister, Tricia Pederson of Dallas, Texas and her children, Anne Pederson Curtis and Michael Pederson; a sister-in-law, Alix Moro (John) of Maggie Valley, North Carolina and her children, Kristin Coleman and Megan Moro; brother-in-law, Martin Charles Ahlvin (Suzanne) of Kosciusko; a brother-in-law, Alder Ahlvin (Sheree) of Vicksburg and his children, Andrew Ahlvin and Barbara Ann Ahlvin; a niece, Vicki Stapp and nephews Donald Stapp and Eddie Stapp; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2018, at Lighthouse Baptist Church with the Rev. E.L. Sharp officiating. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Garner, David Day, Jay Parmegiani, Martin Ahlvin, Alder Ahlvin, and Mike Sharp. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Pederson, Andrew Ahlvin, Eddie Stapp Donald Stapp, Sam Curtis, Dan Creighton, William Matthews, Louis Tingle, and Jacques Parmegiani.
