Charmaine McGowan

Charmaine McGowan, 65, died Sept. 19, 2018, after battling leukemia for four months. Mrs. McGowan was born in South Carolina to the late Molly Martin and spent part of her childhood in Kentucky before moving to Mississippi where John W. McGowan adopted her. After graduating from Millsaps, she began a career at Grand Gulf where she met the love of her life, Norman Frank McGowan.

Charmaine returned to school at Mississippi College to complete her degree in accounting and business. She had a strong passion for the Lord and counseling people to follow Christ. At the age of 60, she completed her master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling. Following her ministry calling from the Lord, she was heavily involved in the “South Street Men’s Ministry.” From South Street, she created “A Healing Place.” Her most recent ministry has been with “Beautiful Deliverance Women’s Ministry with the House of Hope.”

Charmaine was beloved by her family. She is survived by her husband, Norman Frank McGowan; son, Sean McGowan and wife Mary of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter, Keri Vandevender and husband Justin of Clinton; grandchildren, Luke McGowan, Reed McGowan and Molly Bryce Vandevender. She is also survived by her father, two sisters, and one brother.

Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Crossway Church in Vicksburg, with service following at 11 a.m. Burial will follow service at Green Lawn Gardens Cemetery in Vicksburg.
