Ideas for the budget surplus

To the editor:
Since the City has been able to save some money from departmental allocation this year, can we have some spent on putting up guard rails on roads with steep embankments?
Time and again we have had accidents happen on North and South Frontage roads and in rainy season the problem multiplies. Those being the major east/west arteries of the city’s current commercial area should have priority in safety and driving comfort.
Also with the incumbent connection of the outlet mall with South Frontage, we can assume an increase flow of traffic on those connectors.
I would also reiterate the necessity of immediate widening of Halls Ferry Road to accommodate the sports complex traffic onslaught. We had read in the past the traffic studies done for that road have not been properly analysed and recommendations made.
This is another area where the city road department can act on when surplus funding is available.
