River Region’s annual jewelry sale underway

Merit Health River Region is kicking off their semi-annual Masquerade Jewelry Sale Wednesday.
Everything is priced at $5, which not only includes jewelry, MHRR director of marketing Leigh White said, but also scarves, hats, leggings, bags and cell phone accessories.
“I know last spring, we had had a power outage here and not long after that at the jewelry sale, there were some LED lanterns and they sold out like crazy,” White said.
And with Christmas just around the corner, many of the wares sold at the event could easily serve as gifts for friends and family, White said.
“A lot of these items would make great stocking stuffers and presents, too. And if you have friends that you just need a little something for — it’s a great $5 happy,” she said, adding that the jewelry is the same that is carried by department stores everywhere, it is just offered at a discounted rate for the event.
Sponsored by the hospital volunteers, the Masquerade Jewelry Sale serves as a fundraiser for the group White said, with proceeds going towards the Joe and Feeney Elliot Scholarship Fund.
Scholarships are then awarded in the amount of $2,000 each to two students from the four high schools in Vicksburg, White said.
Students who apply for the scholarships must be planning on going into the medical or health care field.
An additional $1,500 scholarship is also awarded to a Miss Mississippi Pageant non-finalist contestant who is planning on going into the medical or health care field, White said.
The Masquerade Jewelry Sale will be held at the hospital, 2100 Highway 61 North, in conference rooms C and D until 4 p.m. Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.
Cash, credit and debit cards will be accepted, only. For more information, call 601-883-5152.
