Heavy rain is expected to move into the Vicksburg area beginning Friday night and continuing throughout much of Saturday, creating the potential for flooding.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, localized flash flooding due to heavy rain is possible, particularly in low-lying and urban areas. This will mainly occur early Saturday morning and spread across the region throughout the day. Rainfall totals are expected to be between 2-4 inches, with locally higher amounts possible. Wind gusts are expected to be around 30 mph.
“This could cause some hazardous conditions if you are traveling,” John Elfer, Warren County Emergency Management Director, said. “We encourage everyone to monitor changing conditions and avoid flooded areas.”
The rainy weather is part of a heavy storm system moving from Texas across the Southeast.
