There are some changes taking place at the Vicksburg WIN Job Center, including the possibility of a new location.
Tim Crudup, Mississippi Department of Employment Security director of the WIN Job Center in Vicksburg, met with the Warren County Board of Supervisors during their Monday work session to give the board an update on the free services the center provides to the community, as well as changes that have taken place.
“Some of the things that we did in the past are now taken over by Hinds (Community College),” Crudup told the board. “Hinds has a WIN Job Center director. That is changing, not only in Vicksburg, but in a lot of other areas.”
Crudup also said the center on Monroe Street might find a new location at the Hinds Community College Vicksburg-Warren campus.
“It’s not in concrete yet, but the center might be moving and co-located with Hinds,” Crudup said.
The reason for that is because of training that now takes place at the campus, according to Crudup.
He said what the center is emphasizing right now is youth workforce training.
“Youth who are not in school, we want to get them into training and ready for the workforce,” Crudup said. “Through Hinds, we offer the National Career Ready Certification. This is the certification that is accepted nationwide.”
Crudup said the CRC gives an employer an idea of a persons skill set and capabilities through one of four different levels of training – bronze, silver, gold and platinum.
“This gives an employer a good idea of the basic concept of someone coming in and being a good employee,” Crudup said.
