Jacques owner Jay Parmegiani was expected to meet Wednesday morning with Mayor George Flaggs Jr. and Vicksburg Police Chief Milton Moore to discuss changes in security after an argument in which shots were fired outside the nightclub Sunday.
Flaggs ordered the business closed until further notice pending the meeting.
Parmegiani will be required to prepare and present a plan for improved security and safety for Flaggs’ and Moore’s approval before he is allowed to reopen.
The incident occurred about 1:37 a.m. Monday. Vicksburg police Lt. Johnnie Edwards said police believe the argument involving two people began inside Jacques and moved outside. He said the shots were fired when the two people were in the street. No one was wounded.
The incident remains under investigation.
Jacques is the fifth business closed by the city in the wake of a violent incident. L.D.’s Lounge, the Klondyke and American Legion Post 3 have been closed after similar incidents and allowed to reopen after filing agreements to increase security to prevent future incidents.
