Warren Central went 3-0 at home against its Region 4-6A opponents. So far on the road, it’s 0-for-2.

Kolby Moore hit four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 16 points, and Tyshawn Armstrong and Omarion Luss added nine points apiece as Clinton beat Warren Central 55-42 on Tuesday to take over first place in the Region 4-6A boys basketball standings.

Warren Central (13-11, 3-2 Region 4-6A) was atop the standings after sweeping Clinton (17-8, 4-1), Provine and Greenville at home earlier this month. Tuesday’s loss, however, was its second in a row after falling at Provine last Friday. The Vikings are now in third place and will be either the second or third seed for the region tournament that begins Feb. 11 at Clinton.

Clinton led 25-20 at halftime Tuesday, and then took control in the third quarter. Moore hit two of his 3-pointers in the period, and Armstrong and Devin Bass also hit one apiece as the Arrows stretched the lead to 41-27 entering the fourth quarter.

The Vikings regrouped in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t close the deficit.
Jabari Bowman led Warren Central with 14 points. Dariyous Moore scored six of his eight points in the fourth quarter.

Warren Central will play its final region game Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Greenville.

Kim McBride went 6-for-10 from 3-point range and tied her season high with 30 points to lead Clinton (17-8, 3-2 Region 4-6A) past the Warren Central Lady Vikes (9-13, 2-3).

McBride also grabbed seven rebounds, and Tamara Alexander scored 16 points. The Lady Arrows eased out to a 12-point lead at halftime, then outscored Warren Central 21-12 in the third quarter to put it out of reach.

Clinton finished 12-for-23 from 3-point range and shot 47 percent from the field overall.

Aniya Sanders led Warren Central with 20 points. Zykerri Segrest and Alaila Bracey added 11 points each. Bracey hit three 3-pointers, and she and Sanders combined to scored 21 of Warren Central’s 29 points in the first half.

Warren Central and Clinton will play each other again in the first round of the region tournament.
