Pauline Pinkston Turner

Pauline Pinkston Turner passed away on Jan. 23, 2019. Born in Vicksburg on Aug. 20, 1924, she was the daughter of Charles James Pinkston Sr., and Olea Ann Bacon Pinkston. She moved to Marianna, Florida, in the 1950’s with her husband John Robert Thomas of Vicksburg who was an Air Force flight instructor. Following his death, Pauline married Jerome F. Turner and worked with him in the family business. After his death, she owned a flower shop for 25 years. Pauline remained in Marianna until Hurricane Michael damaged her long-time home.
Pauline was a civic leader, was active in many organizations, and was Marianna’s first female mayor. She had a flair for the creative and was known for her cooking, baking, and needlework skills.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers Charles and Neil, and sister, Nell Cunny.
Survivors include her daughters Karen (Randy) Esser, Lisa (David) Pelt, and Jean (Doug) Drufner, five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
