A Vicksburg man has been charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling following an incident in which shots were reported fired inside the Tree House Banquet Hall, early Saturday morning.

Vicksburg police Lt. Johnnie Edwards said Ricky Dewayne Larkin Jr., 23, 1101 First North St., is being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $20,000.

The incident occurred about 12:09 a.m. Saturday. Larkin is accused of firing the shots after an argument that occurred during a party. No one was wounded.

Mayor George Flaggs Jr. ordered the business closed until further notice after the incident, and Tree House LLC owner Eric Lawson is expected to meet with the Board of Mayor and Aldermen Wednesday to discuss the incident.

It was the second time  Flaggs closed the business.

Flaggs ordered the Tree House closed in November after shots were reported fired in the business’ parking lot.

The business was later allowed to reopen after Lawson met with Flaggs and Police Chief Milton Moore and signed an agreement to improve security and safety measures at the business.

Lawson said Monday that all of the security measures that were required in the agreement were in place Saturday at the business.

He said six security officers were at the event and Vicksburg police were on the scene “the entire night.”
