Authorities are still investigating the cause of an early Tuesday morning wreck that sent one Vicksburg man to a Jackson hospital by helicopter and knocked out power to hundreds of area residents.
Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said deputies were dispatched at around 2 a.m. to the 1400 block of Oak Ridge Road, where they found a 2003 Honda Accord wrecked, a power pole broken and the driver of the vehicle ejected from the vehicle.
Pace said the driver, who was the lone occupant of the car, was transported to River Region Medical Center by ambulance and then to University of Mississippi Medical Center by air with what appeared to be critical injuries.
The report, Pace said, detailed that it appeared the car, after striking the power pole, rolled numerous times before coming to a stop. The car was traveling northbound on Oak Ridge Road at the time of the accident.
The power outage affected an estimated 1,200 customers in the Openwood Plantation, Fairways subdivision areas.
