John Thomas Kerr

ROLLING FORK — John Thomas Kerr died Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the Merit Health River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. He was 91.
A native of Tallahatchie County, Miss., he had been a resident of Issaquena County since 1953. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in WWII and the Korean Conflict.
He was employed by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks as a game warden, serving 32 years, retiring in 1990.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Morrison and Edith Mae Clarkson Kerr and his daughter, Dorothy Ann Kerr.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kerr of Rolling Fork; his two daughters, Margie Bryant of Lafayette, La. and Theresa Kerr of Fort Worth, Texas; his two sons, J.T. (Kay) Kerr and Ronnie (Jackie) Kerr, both of Rolling Fork; his sister, Sandra Kerr (Hiram) Young of Clinton; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Rolling Fork. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
Interment will be at a later date due to backwater flooding in the Valley Park area.
Pallbearers will be John Paul Kerr, Charles Kerr, Ryan Kerr, Jason Kerr, Bill Gardner and Michael Gardner.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Franklin, Andrew Harrison, Burt McPhail and Mack Shorter.
