Halls Ferry tennis mixer
The City of Vicksburg will host a tennis mixer at Halls Ferry Park on Sunday, June 30 at 1 p.m. The event will also serve as the grand opening of the park’s newly remodeled tennis facility.
The entry fee for the tournament is $10. Any proceeds will benefit the Vicksburg Tennis Affiliate Scholarship Program.

Cannons baseball team
The Vicksburg Cannons Baseball Club is looking for players for its 7U and 10U baseball tournament teams. The 10U tryouts are July 27, from 10 a.m. to noon, and 7U tryouts will be Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon. Tryouts for both age groups will be held at the Culkin Baseball Complex.

Star Spangled Night Run
The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation will host the Star Spangled Night Run, a 5K run and race walk in downtown Vicksburg, on Saturday, June 29.
The race is at 8 p.m. at the Southern Culutral Heritage Center at 1302 Adams St. The SCHC will also host an after party in its courtyard with live music and food.
The entry fee for the race is $35 for adults, 20 for children, and $120 for corporate or civic club teams of 3-5 members. Raceday registration will be open from 6:30 to 7 p.m. on June 30 at the SCHC auditorium. For more information, email info@southernculture.org or visit southernculture.org.
City tennis program
The City of Vicksburg’s summer tennis program will continue through the end of July at Halls Ferry Park. The daily camp is held Monday through Friday, from 8 to 10 a.m., for children ages 5-18.
A junior team tennis camp will also be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week, from 10 a.m. to noon.

EMCC cheer camp
East Mississippi Community College will conduct its EMCC Lions Youth Cheer Camp on Saturday, July 13, at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum on the Scooba campus. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., the camp at 9, and activities will conclude with a showcase for friends and family beginning at 4 p.m.
The camp will be divided into two groups, for children ages 6-9 and 10-14.
The $75 camp cost per participant includes lunch, a T-shirt, and one ticket to EMCC’s Sept. 5 home football game against Pearl River Community College. Camp participants, who will learn material that will incorporate all aspects of cheerleading, are slated to perform during that football game.
