VGSA softball camp
The Vicksburg Girls Softball Association will host a two-night camp Tuesday, July 9 and Thursday, July 11.
The camp is for children ages 12 and under, with the focus on fielding, hitting and base running. The camp will be at Halls Ferry Park, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each evening. The cost is $50.
All proceeds will go to support the VGSA’s 12U and 16U all-star teams as they travel to represent the state of Mississippi in the Little League Southwest Regionals in Waco, Texas, and Pineville, La., later this month. Cannons baseball team
The Vicksburg Cannons Baseball Club is looking for players for its 7U and 10U tournament baseball teams. The 10U tryouts will be held July 27, from 10 a.m. to noon, and the 7U tryouts will be Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon. Tryouts for both age groups will be at the Culkin Baseball Complex.
Other age groups are forming and tryouts will be posted accordingly. Coaches are also needed. For information regarding tryouts or coaching a team, please contact Matt Mallard or Dustin Chamblee at vicksburgcannons@gmail.com.
Legends baseball camp
The Legends for Youth Baseball Camp is scheduled for Sunday, July 28 at Sports Force Parks on the Mississippi. The free camp is from 5-8 p.m. and will feature several former major league players as instructors and is for children ages 6-16.

City tennis program
The City of Vicksburg’s summer tennis program will continue through the end of July at Halls Ferry Park. The daily camp is held Monday through Friday, from 8 to 10 a.m., for children ages 5-18.
A junior team tennis camp will also be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week, from 10 a.m. to noon.

EMCC cheer camp
East Mississippi Community College will conduct its EMCC Lions Youth Cheer Camp on Saturday, July 13, at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum on the Scooba campus. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., the camp at 9, and activities will conclude with a showcase for friends and family beginning at 4 p.m.
The camp will be divided into two groups, for children ages 6-9 and 10-14.
The $75 camp cost per participant includes lunch, a T-shirt, and one ticket to EMCC’s Sept. 5 home football game against Pearl River Community College. Camp participants are slated to perform during that football game.
