The skies above Vicksburg and neighboring Madison Parish have been a buzz in recent days as more than a dozen Warbirds have converged on the Vicksburg-Tallulah Regional Airport for training.

The Southern Heritage Air Foundation and Museum is serving as co-host to the North American Training Association to more than 40 pilots participating in a three-day training session to earn their formation flying cards. The training was scheduled to conclude Saturday.

“We are pleased to once again host this clinic in partnership with NATA and bring pilots from all over the United States, here for this great opportunity while providing a nice economic impact for Vicksburg and Tallulah,” Southern Heritage Air Foundation Chief Pilot and Board Member Jimmy Fordham said.

Formations of Warbirds have filled the skies around Vicksburg and Tallulah since Thursday and even included pre-game flyovers Friday evening at Vicksburg, St. Aloysius and Warren Central home football games.
