Frank Routh Dayton Sr.

Frank Routh Dayton Sr. passed away peacefully in Hattiesburg, Oct. 22, 2019.
He was 94 years old, and is survived by his children, Jim and wife Leigh; Frank Jr. and wife, Lindsey; daughter Charlene Miles and husband Ki; granddaughters, McKenzie and Mary Catherine Miles and Jen Jen Dayton and a brother Edward and his wife Ruth Anne; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death in 2007 by his loving wife Vera of 58 years; his brother, Leon; and his parents, Edward and Octavia Dayton.
Frank attended LSU and Southeastern Louisiana University majoring in business.
He proudly served in the Navy during World War II and in the Army during the Korean War. Frank spent his career working in chemical plants throughout the world including six years in Kuwait and Korea.
He completed his work history with 18 years at Vicksburg Chemical in Vicksburg.
Frank was a very loving and attentive father and grandfather who in later years would spend countless hours with his granddaughters, watching game shows, riding around with them on his four wheeler, playing Uno and reading books.
He enjoyed life, telling hunting and fishing stories and socializing with his many friends.
In his retirement he was able to spend time doing things he especially enjoyed like deer hunting, fishing and tending his garden. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg on Monday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the funeral following at 1.
Pallbearers will be Ki Miles, Jay Maddox, Michael Edwards, Kyle Whitehead, Greg Kelly, and Brice Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Fairchilds, Trey Fairchilds, Charlie Peets, and Dave Madsen.
