Bond has been denied for two Vicksburg teens charged with capital murder in the Oct. 30 shooting death off Moses Ellis.

Municipal Judge J. Allen Derivaux denied bond for Kevon Moore, 19, 1216 Harrison St., and Titan Moore, 18, 219 Meadowvale Drive, at an initial appearance Friday morning.

Kevon Moore and Titan Moore were initially charged with attempted murder, armed robbery and possession of a stolen firearm in the case. The attempted murder charge was upgraded to capital murder after Ellis died Thursday from his wound. The initial $850,000 bonds set Nov. 2 for the two were revoked.

According to police reports, the shooting occurred at about 3:45 p.m. Oct. 30. Officers responding to a call of an aggravated assault at the Days Inn, 90 Warrenton Road, found Ellis suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.

Ellis was transported by ambulance to Merit Health River Region and then taken by air ambulance to University of Mississippi Medical Center. His condition had not been available since the shooting.

According to police, witnesses provided the description of a vehicle that fled the scene. The vehicle was later spotted by officers and stopped at the intersection of Washington Street and Morgan Lane.

Three people in the vehicle were detained for questioning by investigators, and officers recovered a 9 mm handgun that was in plain view in the vehicle.

Authorities believe the handgun was the one used in the shooting.
