One of the highlights of the summer calendar in Vicksburg is the annual Ritz on the River.

Thursday, officials with the Vicksburg Convention Center, along with event sponsor Mutual Credit Union, announced the seventh annual event will be Thursday, July 23 with New Orleans-based The Phunky Monkeys Band headlining.

Through a specially-produced video on the convention center’s Facebook account, it was also announced that Good Shepherd Community Center will be the designated charity for the event.

“The fundamental philosophy of Good Shepherd is that of prevention,” the convention center said in a release Thursday. “They believe that it is far better to prevent bad things from happening to children, youth, adults, and families than to attempt rehabilitation after the damage has already occurred. Good Shepherd provides a holistic program that will enable the very poor and disadvantaged of society to meet the demands of life.”

Tickets will go on sale April 6 and are $50 and are only available in advance through Ticketmaster.com or the Vicksburg Convention Center box office.
