Warren County residents can expect another round of severe weather Tuesday night through Wednesday, according to information from the National Weather Service.

“We have a cold front that will be coming through sometime Tuesday night, and we will have associated with that front a storm system going through the central part of our area,” said Janae Elkins, meteorologist with the National Weather Service Office in Jackson.

She said the system is capable of producing damaging winds and hail.

“At this point, the threat of tornadoes cannot be ruled out, but that threat is more for the northwest [portion of Mississippi],” she said.

Elkins said there is the possibility for more isolated storms Wednesday in the southeast portion of the state with quarter-sized hail and damaging winds, with the rainfall beginning to diminish Wednesday afternoon. Rainfall totals have not been determined.

She said dry weather will return Thursday with temperatures in the 50s and 60s.

The area was hit by several storms in January, with two storms setting new records for rainfall for the month. According to the National Weather Service, 11.42 inches of rain fell in the area in January. The normal rainfall for the month is 5.07 inches.
