With basketball and the winter sports season finally coming to a close this week, spring break next week, and some sun peeking through today, I’m in a mellow and poetic mood. One of my goals in life is to write an entire story as an epic poem like Beowulf. Or perhaps even figure out exactly what iambic pentameter is and write one that way. For now I’ll settle for a string of unconnected sports haikus.

You know the rules — three lines, five syllables, seven syllables and then five more to bring it home. The rest is up to you.

spring, but don’t forget about
golf, tennis and track

Zippity-zip go
track folks, around and around
watch and get dizzy

Walking ‘round the course,
sunny skies, get out of class?
Golf team is awesome!
