Following in the steps taken earlier this week by other large theater companies, B&B Theatres nationwide closed Wednesday in response to the threat posed by the COVID-19 virus.

The company operates the movie theater located in the Vicksburg Mall.

“The unprecedented and unpredictable circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic and required response efforts have taken dramatic tolls on the economy, supply chain, employment and the livelihood and health of untold individuals and families around the globe,” President and CEO Bob Bagby said in a company release. “In keeping with local recommendations and mandates, we at B&B Theatres have aggressively reacted with new policies and procedures in an effort to remain open to guests during this time, hoping to continue to do what we’ve always done; provide entertainment and escape to our valued friends and guests. The situation, however, continues to evolve at a rapid rate.”

With the recommendations from federal, state and local governments restricting the number of people allowed in large gatherings, theaters across the country have seen attendance at showings decline dramatically in recent weeks.

Recently, the city of Vicksburg recommended groups and organizations restrict the size of gatherings to no more than 50 people.
