Vicksburg has a new dermatologist in town.
Dr. Jasmine Hollinger has joined Robert C. Clingan Dermatology as a provider.
“I am excited to be adopted into the Vicksburg community,” Hollinger said. “I am really excited to learn about Vicksburg, to get to know the people in the community, and to be able to serve the community in the best capacity that I am able.”
Hollinger is a native of Jackson and attended medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. After completing her residency in dermatology at Howard University in Washington, D.C., Hollinger returned to UMMC as a physician.
Hollinger has been practicing since 2015 and specializes in pigmentary disorders and hair loss. She looks forward to continuing to serve Mississippi, and specifically the Vicksburg and Warren County community, in dermatology healthcare needs.
“Dermatology is really underserved,” she said. “In Mississippi, there are roughly 70 dermatologists and there are 82 counties, so there is not even one dermatologist for each county. This is something where I can really be of service because (dermatology) is underrepresented across the state.”
Dr. Robert Clingan, who owns the practice, is pleased to have Hollinger in Vicksburg.
“I am excited that Dr. Hollinger brings youth and energy to our practice of dermatology, and she is the answer to a several year search,” he said. “I have practiced dermatology for 50 years and Vicksburg has been the most rewarding. I love my patients and was so concerned that driving 40-plus miles was not an option for some of our older patients.
“Dr. Hollinger brings her energy and youth and all new information,” he continued. “She has a very delightful manner and she is very knowledgeable of her field of medicine. She graduated from my alma mater, UMMC, she did her residency at Howard and I actually taught at Howard when I was at Walter Reed. So, I guess I just knew she could do the job. Howard University has an excellent dermatology school.”
Hollinger said that after visiting with Clingan and his wife, Joyce, seeing the practice and eating a meal at Walnut Hills, she knew this was a good fit.
“(The Clingans) just seemed like very kind, loving people,” she said. “I know they are both staples in the Vicksburg community.”
Hollinger lives in Brandon with her husband, Lowell Hollinger, who is the Associate Director of Band at Jackson State University. The couple has a 3-year-old daughter named Kynzie. Hollinger is a certified group fitness trainer and is interested in holistic and alternative medicine.
“I am really into health and wellness beyond someone just taking medicine,” she said.”(I’m interested in) looking into ways that you can be healthier by making life modifications be it through food, fitness or working out, and looking at other natural alternatives and alternative medicines that may be able to assist or complement traditional medicine.”
