For history and aviation enthusiasts, the Southern Heritage Air Foundation Museum released some tremendously good news Thursday.

In a post on social media, the museum announced it would reopen to the public beginning Saturday, June 13 at 7 a.m.

And, to celebrate its reopening, it announced a number of activities, including free tours, a charity ride, catfish plates and plane rides.

“Our aircraft will be on static display, with rides for sale in our 1934 Classic WACO Bi-plane, and our 1943 WWII AT-6 Texan and our 1945 L-5 Stinson,” Southern Heritage Air Foundation President Patty Mekus said. “You can also view our 1945 P-51D Mustang Charlotte’s Chariot II, our WWII Russian Yak, and late Mississippi Governor Kirk Fordice’s last plane, an Amphibious Aviat Husky.”

Prices to ride in one of the historic planes range from $100 to $350 based on the aircraft.

Catfish plates are $15 and include fried catfish, hushpuppies, french fries, baked beans and coleslaw. Purchasing plates also enters you in a drawing for $100.

All proceeds go to support the Southern Heritage Air Foundation Museum, located at 179 VTR Airport Road, Tallulah, La.
