EDWARDS — A Utica man was killed early Tuesday in a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 20 westbound near the Warren County line.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol said 23-year-old Robert L. Barnes was killed when the 2009 Infinity G37 he was driving lost control and collided into a guardrail on the westbound shoulder.

Barnes was the only occupant in the vehicle.

In the release, officials said Barnes was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. It is also believed that speed and weather conditions were factors in the wreck that happened just after 7 a.m.
