The headline about the city acquiring a right of way for a future is not the stuff of breaking news, but that move Wednesday is a positive signal for Vicksburg’s economy.
When it became public that Starbucks Coffee was planning to build a location in Vicksburg, The Post wrote an editorial talking about how the confidence a national company must have to make an investment in a new market is something the city should have been proud of.
Knowing that company is still moving ahead with that investment in Vicksburg during a time of economic uncertainty brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic is even better news.
The expansion of that small road, that now goes behind Chick-fil-A and the future Starbucks’ location will also provide some relief to the busy Pemberton Square Boulevard and Halls Ferry Road intersection by giving those looking to head to Halls Ferry sports complex another option.
The road expansion to the park, along with Starbucks’ investment in Vicksburg, shows just how strong the Halls Ferry corridor continues to be for Vicksburg’s economy and how crucial future development in that area will be to Vicksburg’s future economic growth.
Sometimes it’s the smaller headlines that often have the biggest long-term impact.
