More COVID-19 deaths reported in Warren County

Warren County reported two new COVID-19 deaths Wednesday, bringing the county’s total for the pandemic to 20.
The deaths were among the 30 reported in Mississippi Wednesday when state health officials released their daily figures. It is the second time that Warren County has had multiple deaths reported on the same day. The other time was on June 17, when two were reported.
In addition to the two deaths, the county reported an additional eight confirmed cases , bringing the total reported during the pandemic to 540. The first case of a Warren County resident testing positive was March 29.
The number of estimated active cases did drop with Wednesday’s report, to 162. That is down five from Tuesday.
Overall, the state reported 674 new confirmed cases, which brings the its pandemic total to 32,888, with 1,188 deaths.
Yazoo County on Wednesday reported a total of 533 cases with six deaths, while Claiborne County now reports 289 cases and 10 deaths. Sharkey County reports 40 cases overall, with Issaquena County reporting a total of 10 cases and one virus-related death.
Wednesday, health officials in Louisiana reported the number of confirmed cases in Madison Parish has reached 401, with three deaths. Tensas Parish has had 30 cases and no deaths, while East Carroll Parish has had 449 cases and one death.
Statewide, Louisiana has had 70,151 cases and 3,231 deaths since the pandemic began in March. A total of 46,334 people are in the “presumed recovered” category, leaving about 20,000 active cases in the state. Nearly one-fourth of the cases — 18,739 of the 70,151 reported — have been in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes in the New Orleans area, which was hard hit in the early days of the pandemic.
