One person has been reportedly detained following a shooting Friday night on Washington Street.

Shortly after 9:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of Washington Street for a report of a man shot in the neck. Dispatchers told those units responding that the victim “is still breathing.”

Shortly after units responded, medical teams followed, later transporting the victim to University of Mississippi Medical Center. The victim’s condition was not known.

The Vicksburg Police Department late Friday did confirm that one suspect had been detained, but did not identify the suspect.
