Paul Michael Machen rushed for 208 yards and four touchdowns, and Carter Sullivan scored the game-winning touchdown with about two minutes to go as Tallulah Academy (4-3, 1-1 MAIS District 3-1A) defeated Tensas Academy (4-3, 0-1) in an eight-man football game on Thursday.
Tallulah overcame a 20-0 deficit in the first quarter by shutting out the Chiefs in the second half.
“Our defense finally got going and shut them down,” Tallulah coach Bart Wood said. “They scored on two long passes and one long run. Just busted plays. I can’t remember them ever driving down the field on us.”
Tallulah’s Walker Sullivan finished with 90 rushing yards on 17 carries. Marsh Wood caught a 32-yard touchdown pass from Dee Morgan, to go along with 10 total tackles and two sacks on defense.
Machen had three sacks and eight tackles.
Tallulah will host Christian Collegiate Academy next Friday at 7 p.m.
