Delta Bank will handle the lease purchase of two diesel fire trucks for the Vicksburg Fire Department.

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Wednesday approved Delta’s proposal to do the lease purchase at a percentage rate of 4.7 percent. Other companies submitting bids were Trustmark Bank, 4.98 percent; Flagstar Public Finance of Towson, Md., 5.244 percent; and Bank Funding LLC, Towson, Md., 5.01 percent.

Delta’s selection comes after the board sought lease purchase proposals for a second time.

The board initially advertised for proposals in early September and opened four on Sept. 18 with Trustmark Bank having the low bid at 4.91 percent. Four days later, at a Sept. 29 meeting, the board learned that Flagstone had submitted a bid on the lease purchase on time for the opening but the package was mislaid and not included when the bids were opened. Flagstone’s bid was 4.798; lower than any of the four bids opened by the board on Sept. 18.

The board on Oct. 12 opened Flagstone’s bid, then rejected all bids and re-advertised for bids.

The E-1 Typhoon pumpers were ordered by the department in 2021 from Sunbelt Fire Apparatus of Fairhope, Ala. They were delivered in July 2022, representing a $1.1 million investment for the city.

Both diesel-powered pumpers have 1,500-gallon-per-minute pumps, with 1,000-gallon water tanks.

The trucks also each have 65-gallon diesel tanks and storage room for 10 spare air bottles and each truck has 400 feet of hose in a bumper storage box, a backup camera and bumper storage for400 feet of hose and LED lighting on the front sides and rear and traffic aids to help notify traffic when they are working on the streets.
