Two Warren County residents are being held in the Warren County Jail after their arrest Tuesday on drug charges.
According to Warren County Sheriff’s Office reports, Warren County deputies assisted by Vicksburg police narcotics investigators and a Ninth Circuit District Attorney’s Office investigator executing an arrest and search warrant about 8:30 a.m. on a home at 69 Clark Road, arrested Lance Burton, 36, and Cassidy Gurley, 42, the owner of the house where Burton was staying.
The arrests were the result of about a two-month investigation during which law enforcement officials say Burton reportedly sold methamphetamine to an undercover operative. While serving the search warrant on the house, deputies discovered 38 tablets of the drug Ecstasy, or MDNA, and a small quantity of methamphetamine.
Burton is charged with sale of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of Ecstasy with intent to distribute.
He is being held without bond because he is currently under indictment with a pending trial date on a charge of uttering forgery. He was indicted as a habitual offender because he has two prior felony convictions.
Gurley is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of Ecstasy with intent to distribute. She is also under indictment with a trial date pending. Justice Court Judge Jeff Crevitt set her bond at $30,000 but she is not eligible to post bond because the District Attorney’s Office has placed a hold on her pending a bond revocation hearing.
“These arrests are the result of an approximately two-month investigation led by sheriff’s detective Jeff Merritt. It also reflects one of several cases recently with the combined efforts of Vicksburg police narcotics and Warren County Sheriff’s narcotics working hand-in-hand,” Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.
