Winifred “Fred” Powell passed away on Nov 26, 2023, at the age of 83 at his home in Warner Robins, GA.

He was a resident of Vicksburg, MS, from 1983 to 2004 then resided in Port Gibson, MS, from 2004-2017.

Mr. Powell was born in Eminence, MO, and graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1965.

He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for many years with his final post being with the Mississippi River Commission.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 0003, Moose Lodge 1581 and Elks Lodge 0095 for many years.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Powell, and his parents, Wayland L Powell and Alta L Powell.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Stephanie; his two daughters, Sharon Vorisek and Linda Powell; three brothers, Elmer Powell, Walter Powell and Keith Powell; and his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Monday, Dec 4,  at 2 p.m. at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home at 5000 Indiana Ave. in Vicksburg. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the hour of service.

Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
