St. Aloysius got four goals over the line, and one win over its archrival.
John Ellis Montgomery had a goal and an assist, and three other players scored goals as St. Al defeated Cathedral 4-1 in a boys’ soccer game on Thursday.
J.R. McCain, Jack Dickerson and Cater Smithhart each scored a goal for the Flashes (3-3-1), while Eli Shiers and Cobin Burroughs had assists.
Montgomery scored on a penalty kick to start the scoring, and McCain and Dickerson also found the back of the net in the first half.
Caleb Tucker made five saves for St. Al.
The Flashes earned a tie against another Catholic school rival earlier in the week, playing to a 1-1 draw with Madison-St. Joseph. Tucker made 10 saves, while McCain scored the Flashes’ goal off an assist from Sam Hall.
St. Al will be back in action Monday, when it plays Bayou Academy in its MAIS Division II West district opener. The game will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Farrell Stadium/Balzli Field.
