While many people were busy with last-minute shopping, cooking, and other holiday preparation in December, members of Leadership Vicksburg and Young Professionals current classes were partnering with the Salvation Army to help raise funds for those in need.

Coordinated by the Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Vicksburg is a nine-month program that allows participants the opportunity to not only get to know their community, but to identify key issues that impact Vicksburg and Warren County while working together to formulate solutions.

According to chamber officials, “the Vicksburg Young Professional group is a program for the next generation of leaders between the ages of 20 and 40 that work and live in the Vicksburg-Warren County area. This group will provide a support outlet for the skills and enthusiasm of young professionals. Young professionals are encouraged to take actions within the capabilities and resources of the group to promote the continued development of the City of Vicksburg as a progressive, forward-thinking community. This group will serve to create an environment that fosters professional growth, networking, and community service.”

Chamber officials said the work these two groups do throughout the year makes a big difference in the community, as is evidenced by the money they helped raise in December.

“Let’s congratulate the Leadership Vicksburg class!” chamber officials wrote on social media following December’s partnership with the Salvation Army. “The group raised $692 while Ringing the Bell for The Salvation Army.

“What an amazing effort put in from both the Leadership Vicksburg class and Young Professionals, who raised a total of $1,279.”
