Smith scores 42 as Lady Eagles roll over River Oaks

Jae’la Smith hit a new milestone, and the Porter’s Chapel Academy Lady Eagles achieved their same old result.
Smith scored a season-high high 42 points to lead PCA’s girls’ basketball team to a 56-49 victory against River Oaks on Monday.
Smith added 11 rebounds for a double-double, and also finished with seven steals and three assists. She was 16-of-23 shooting from the field and 9-for-13 at the free throw line.
Marley Bufkin added six points for PCA, while Lauren Madison had four points and 10 rebounds.
Janie Simpson scored 22 points to lead River Oaks.
The Lady Eagles (8-0, 2-0 MAIS District 4-3A) remained undefeated by winning the first of four games this week. They’ll host Hillcrest Christian on Tuesday, play at Union Christian on Thursday, and then are back home to face Prairie View on Friday. All varsity girls-boys doubleheaders begin at 6 p.m.

Porter’s Chapel 52, River Oaks 46
Jase Jung and Ty Mack each had a double-double, and Noah Porter just missed one as Porter’s Chapel Academy’s boys’ team went on the road and beat River Oaks on Monday.
Jung finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Mack had 12 points and 11 rebounds. Porter had nine points, 13 rebounds and five assists.
Taylor Labarre also contributed eight points for PCA (8-2, 2-0 District 4-3A) and Gavin White scored six.
Reggie Jackson led River Oaks with 19 points and Jake Stanley scored 16.
