Porter’s Chapel Academy, Agape Montessori Christian Academy, and Vicksburg Catholic School (Sisters of Mercy ELC, SFXE, and SAHS) have each announced they will be closed Tuesday (Jan. 16) due to the extreme winter weather.

“SAHS students please check LMS for assignments and SFXE students please continue with your packets,” Vicksburg Catholic School posted on Facebook along with the announcement on Monday.

The Vicksburg Warren School District over the weekend announced classes and activities would be cancelled Tuesday, with the closure also affecting sports and other activities planned for Monday.

“All extracurricular activities for Monday and Tuesday are canceled,” officials said Sunday, adding “We will provide further updates as they are available on our website and all social media platforms. A decision about Wednesday, January 17 will be made by 2:00 Tuesday afternoon. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. Please stay weather aware, and stay warm.”

Neither Porter’s Chapel nor Vicksburg Catholic School has made an announcement regarding plans for Wednesday, but Porter’s Chapel officials said “a decision about school on Wednesday will be made tomorrow and communicated with our Eagle Family. Please stay safe!”

Agape officials also said they will make a decision concerning Wednesday on Tuesday afternoon after reassessing the weather.
