Water service has been restored to customers in Tallulah after the city voluntarily turned off its plant Friday afternoon in order to repair as many as 50 leaks following winter weather last week that caused what officials called a “catastrophic water outage.”
The City of Tallulah on its Facebook page announced Saturday morning that, while service has been reconnected, a boil water advisory remains in effect. Customers are also able pick up potable water at the city’s community center today and tomorrow thanks to action from the State of Louisiana, the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana in Monroe, and the Madison Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
“Water service (is) re-established. However, we still need to conserve water usage as we continue to build pressure and keep tanks filled,” officials said. “If you have a leak, please report it so that we can assist with turning your water off to help keep our supplies up.”
